| The CRC obliges governments
to ensure that children and adults are
aware of the rights in the convention
and that children are provided with opportunities
to express their views about matters affecting
them. To fulfill its obligations, the
Government has made the CRC available
in a 'child-friendly' format and —
in collaboration with non-governmental
organisations (NGOs) — sponsored
awareness-raising initiatives, such as
the Child Ambassadors Scheme, initiated
in 2000 to mark the 10th anniversary of
the CRC, and the Children's Council, which
has met annually since 2003. In 2005,
the Government established the Children's
Rights Forum to provide a formal channel
of communication between children's representatives
and the Government. These measures are
complementary and on-going.
