The Air Traffic Control Complex and Tower and the Airport Fire Station
for the new airport at Chek Lap Kok were completed in mid-1997.
Construction of the Airport Police Station, the Government Flying
Services Headquarters, the Air Mail Centre and the fitting-out work for
the government facilities inside the Passenger Terminal Building are on
track. Construction of the Airfield Traffic Control and meteorological
facilities for the second runway started in mid-1997. The Lantau Link toll
plaza administration building was completed and handed over to the
franchisee/operator.
